General Questions

Can you add <insert channel suggestion here>?

If you think the server really needs one, feel free to leave a detailed suggestion through one of our contact methods as to what it would be about! That is, unless it's in the next question...

Can we have a spam/meme channel?

No. These get too unruly too quick, add undue stress to the moderation team, and are prone to people thinking that no rules apply. They also tend to leak too often. Please don't ask us for one. You are allowed to send some memes in our #media channel, but be sure not to spam them or else you will be asked to stop.

Can we have a <insert video game> channel?

No, if you want to talk about a video game, please use the #general for discussion or #media for related link-sharing about the game.

What will happen to the server when it is/is not marching season?

This server is active all year round! Nothing changes except for a boost in member activity and count during the season, but as the server has grown, we have seen the activity levels during and after marching season basically become the same.

Can you add <insert bot name here>?

Unless that bot is gonna make a pig fly, I'm afraid we are not looking for any more bots. We also do not allow bots that are run by members of our server (moderators excluded) due to security and privacy concerns.

Can you add <insert emoji here>?

While we do have a large number of open emoji slots available, we only add emojis that we feel would be in the best interest of the community as a whole. Feel free to suggest one to us using one of our contact methods.

Roles

How many instrument roles am I allowed to have?

Our general rule is that if you can play the instrument at a High School Freshman level and it isn't your primary instrument, you can add it to yourself in addition to your primary instrument. If you have any questions about it, please feel free to reach out to us using one of our contact methods.

I'm going to be Drum Major/Section Leader next season but I haven't been officially chosen yet. Can I add the role now?

Please wait until you are actually fully chosen and designated as a Drum Major/Section Leader before adding the the role to yourself.

Help! I don't see my instrument on the roles list?

Don't worry, just request it using one of our contact methods and we can get it for you, as long as its a reasonable instrument and not like a kazoo.

Why don't we have roles for our specific circuits?

On this server, we use state roles to help determine which region to put you in for our regional chats. We do have some national circuits (BOA, USBands, etc.) that you can choose from in addition to your normal state ones.

What about school roles?

We have a very large amount of members, and not everyone goes to the same school. Discord only allows a max of 250 roles currently, which a majority of those slots are already taken up by the instrument, class, and circuit roles that we have. Adding school roles just is not possible at this point.

Will I have to change my own class role each year?

Nope! Leave that one to the mods. We keep the role the same for all of your years in high school and just rename it each year until your graduation. If you try to change your role too early, you'll end up in the wrong grade when we move everyone else around.

Regulars

Why do all these people have light blue names?

Those are people we like to call "Regulars" here on the server!

What is a Regular?

Regulars are some of the most active members of the server. They help start and build conversations, welcome new members, and are overall great members of the server! These members follow the rules, know how to abide by them correctly, and are representative of what our community is like.

How do I become a Regular?

We have a Regular application that you can fill out, and if you meet the requirements for becoming a Regular, we will grant you the role and inform you of your successful application!

Band Boosters

Why do all these people have light pink names?

Those are people we like to call "Band Boosters" here on the server!

What is a Band Booster?

Band Boosters are members of our server that support us using Nitro Boosts. Nitro Boosting our server helps us get cool perks and benefits, including more Emoji slots, a larger upload limit, our animated icon, a server banner, and more! By boosting our server, the entire community reaps the rewards, which is why we want to make sure that these users stand out!

How do I become a Band Booster?

To become a Band Booster, all you have to do is boost the server using a Nitro Boost, and then Discord will automatically add you to the Band Booster role.

Moderators

Can I be a mod?

We will make an announcement in our #announcements channel when we are looking to add new mods to our team.

When are mod apps coming out next?

We currently do not have an idea of when we want to add new moderators to our team. Our team is well balanced in all of the areas that our server needs, so there is no need to overload the server with unneeded moderation past what we already enforce.

Following the rules and being active are two GREAT ways you can help us grow our community and be a cool person too!

Am I allowed to call out others when I see them break the rules (mini-mod)?

While we appreciate the effort, please refrain from excessively calling people out for breaking rules or toeing the line of them. If you notice any issues, please contact one of our mods either directly via DMs or a ping, or by using one of our contact methods.

How can I suggest new things or give feedback on how the mods are doing?

If you have a general question, feel free to send us a message through one of our contact methods and someone will help you out! If it is a more private matter and in an urgent sense, please DM a mod directly.
